Le 2 septembre 1939, les troupes Allemandes envahissent la Pologne, les Allemands inaugurent la "BLITZ KRIEG" ou guerre éclair: les chars appuyés par l'aviation précèdent l'infanterie. Malgré son courage, l'armée Polonaise dépose les armes le 29 septembre. La FRANCE et l'ANGLETERRE déclarent la guerre à l'allemagne mais sans intervenir.

After annexing Austria and Czechoslovakia, the Germans (allied to the Russians by a secret agreement) invade Poland. This was called the Pact of Steel. Great Britain and France declared war on Germany but aren’t involved in the conflict. In 1939, the Polish army was well trained to fight and well-disciplined but not armed and well equipped. After the Polish capitulation, thousands of Polish officers, made prisoners, are killed by the Soviets (Kathyn Wood slaughter)
